free spirited

sometimes in life, you find people you simply know are going to go far. allow me to introduce you to my friend cara crowcombe. a free-spirit by anyone's definition, every time i have a conversation with her, i either feel i've come out of it knowing much more than when i went in, or i fall about laughing and leave with a smile plastered to my face. she completely oozes talent and just being around her is inspiring. last night she came for a catch up dinner at my house, and we took a walk as the sun set. here are some, photos that came out of the time we spent; everyone knows a picture speaks a thousand words, so here she is, cara crowcombe.

and finally i leave you with one of her incredible drawings, which also happens to be my drawing.

look book - emma wilson

today, i did my first look book shoot! i took these photos for my incredibly talented friend EMMA WILSON (remember her name) who is a beast with a sewing machine. chantelle wilson (not related) modelled them for us today and i really enjoyed shooting for a purpose! although i'm not too pleased with the photos, it was a chance to experiment with colours and styles, and also a chance to work for a different purpose.

it was incredibly warm and i want to thank emma and chantelle for putting up with my whining about the heat, and also the vast collection of insects which decided to help on the shoot. thank you guys!

(a REAL experiment!)

fairies

models: sammie, becky and sophie

this was a fun shoot i did for an old friend who got in contact, asking for some photos for her art degree; of course i wanted to get involved, and here's what we came up with, some fairy themed photos for her fashion promotion course!

there's an exhibition scheduled for what she comes up with from the photos in a few weeks time, and i'm really excited- my very first (of hopefully many!) art exhibition! i'll definitely post some photos when i can.

with regards to what i've got coming up, i'll be shooting a lookbook for one of my close friends emma, with a gorgeous model, and i'll be taking some more photos of ffion as soon as i can, along with another model i scouted a few weeks ago! i get over my illness and suddenly i'm inspired to work work work! hope you're all well.

petrichor

"petrichor: (noun) the smell of rain after a storm"
the ever beautiful emma clayton and i went running into the fields after a storm, light was of the essence, so these grainy snapshots are all that i have to show; definitely going to reshoot as the days get longer and the night draws ever further away.

continually fascinated by film colours, i'm testing out new curves; what's the verdict?

for my more personal work, you can add me on facebook: facebook.com/brenddhill
(leave me a message in the request saying who you are!)

stay well,
-b

fireworks.

model: shadee

today shadee & i dyed my hair ginger for a halloween party tomorrow, it was one of the most curious experiences of my life. entirely. i felt sick with nerves that it was going horribly wrong, and from the putrid smell of chemicals and hazards from the small foil packet.

water rushed over my head and deep into my scalp as my bathtub filled quickly with masses of crimson residue. the jets deafened me, but not as much to not hear the 'shut your eyes!' from shadee, as she started massaging my scalp. i didn't want to shut them. didn't want to miss any of this experience, it felt like a legal high! the anticipation and the colour and the adrenaline.

the whole thing was saddening for me, though; it showed just how much we care about our appearance in the modern day world - the fact that dying our hair can leave us with lightning-quick pulses and sighs of relief.

spontaneity is what i decided was the remedy; so shadee and i went out to photoshoot, grabbing clothes from her house on the way. we broke into an old abandoned plot of land and i felt alive.

you're only young once; don't waste it with anticipation.
